Updated Letter Writing Request: Write Letters to FERC in Opposition to the Atlantic Coast Pipeline

Friends of Nelson requests that individuals write letters to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) in opposition to the Atlantic Coast Pipeline.  Although citizens cannot file official comments on the Atlantic Coast Pipeline project until the project is issued a FERC docket number, it is important that citizens begin writing and sending FERC letters of opposition now, so that we can begin to set the stage for opposition.  Dominion has an inherent advantage in the FERC process, so the more that we contact FERC to express our strong opposition to the project, the better.

In a recent article in The News Virginian, Southern Environmental Law Center senior attorney Greg Buppert is quoted as saying that FERC is in strong need of public input: “I think FERC needs to hear from you and how the pipeline will harm you and your property and will harm all the things that are special about Augusta County…. If FERC doesn’t hear from you the balance is already tipped in favor of Dominion.” He goes on to say that “The [FERC] process hasn’t started for Dominion, but that doesn’t mean you can’t write to FERC.”

At this time, letters can be sent to FERC at their mailing address:
